The Shelter, a hostel with 40 beds, has been open for 34 years. We aim to be more than a place to sleep but where travelers can find community and friendship. Volunteers and guests often go to the beach together, go hiking in the area, play games, and share meals. The owners and volunteers are followers of Christ, but our guests come from all nations, backgrounds and religions. We have a daily worship time and Bible study at 11:00 for an hour in our succah.
Our guests stay from anywhere to one night to months. The Shelter is a good base from which to do a diving course or for day trips in the Eilat Mountains. As Israel Trail Angels, in the fall and spring seasons when the weather is good for hiking, we host many people who are starting or finishing their trek.
We usually have about 5 volunteers at any time, and are looking for people between the ages of 20 and 30 who can stay for 3 months. Our volunteers should work well in a team, be flexible, have a sense of humour, and enjoy self-initiative.
