Light House Hostel
Joining our team would be an enriching experience if you love to know more about Jesus and His teachings; relish community living; passionate about connecting with guests; interested to know how a hostel operates; love to explore Edinburgh.
We are constantly looking for followers of Christ who are passionate about community and love connecting with travellers. To give time to integrate with the community, staying 2 months or more is preferred. Although we will consider a shorter stay if appropriate. If you are looking for a meaningful way to spend your gap year or need an internship placement at a youth hostel or desiring a break or re-think in your career, the Light House would be ideal for you.
A cleaner who is house proud would be of great help for the team as well. This position will suit those who enjoy living in a Christian community and willing to explore the teachings of Christ.
The Light House Hostel is a homely and tranquil hostel providing a peaceful place for travellers to rest and explore the beautiful city of Edinburgh. As a community, we seek to share Christ with travellers from all nations and to provide resources for community transformation. We donate a significant percentage of our profits to a housing charity. We provide space for guests to experience community and explore the teachings of Christ; inviting them to take their next step with Jesus no matter where they are on the journey. The community comprises of mainly the staff team and some local believers sharing life together as a community with Jesus as the centre. We are developing a training programme to learn and grow together in hospitality, community and discipleship. Staff members make themselves available in shifts to host our guests and tidy up community spaces. Daily dinner follow by Bible reading is often the highlight of the day. Our team enjoy spending time together and would love including our guests in the fun and adventure. Guests are welcome to join our weekly rhythm of Jesus meditation and community dinner. We are hoping to make our British tea time a more regular feature.
